Nursing Schools need to establish information systems for nursing security events. This is one of the conclusions reached by Song and Guo (2019) in their study entitled “What influences nursing safety event reporting among nursing interns?: Focus group study.” This study caught our attention, and it has served as a basis for reflecting on the importance of learning and reporting adequately on safety events since the beginning of nursing studies. Training on how to correctly detect and record safety events that affect patients should be included in the teaching programs of the Schools and Faculties of Nursing from the beginning of the learning process of the students.

Moreover, we think it is an excellent idea and a scientific contribution of great interest for the field of nursing knowledge the fact that the proper higher education centers will include systems that allow keeping an up-to-date and accessible record of this information.

The reading of the mentioned article led us to think if there would be more similar studies and if the nursing education centers would have information systems or registration of safety events in which the students were immersed.

A search with the terms “event reporting” nursing safety, in the Web of Science database with the ALL FIELDS option selected, yielded 101 results. In the articles obtained only one (Mckay and Sanko, 2014) was related to the role of students in the information system, but none of them included the idea of establishing information systems of Nursing Events in the Faculties or Schools.

One of the aspects of dissemination of our project could include sending it to higher education centers of health sciences in our countries so that the system can be used by students and teachers to record information about safety events in nursing.

Las Escuelas de Enfermería necesitan establecer sistemas de información de eventos de seguridad de enfermería. Esta es una de las conclusiones a la que llegaron Song y Guo (2019) en su estudio titulado “Qué influye en los informes de eventos de seguridad de enfermería entre los internos de enfermería?: Estudio de grupos focales.” Este estudio captó nuestra atención y ha servido de base para reflexionar sobre la importancia de aprender e informar adecuadamente sobre los eventos de seguridad desde el comienzo de los estudios de enfermería. La formación sobre cómo detectar y registrar adecuadamente los eventos de seguridad que afectan a los pacientes, debería incluirse en los programas formativos de las Escuelas y Facultades de Enfermería desde los primeros momentos de la formación de los y las estudiantes. Y el hecho de que en los propios centros de educación superior, se incluyan sistemas que permitan mantener un registro actualizado y accesible de esa información nos parece una gran idea y una aportación científica de mucho interés para el campo de conocimiento de enfermería.

La lectura del mencionado artículo nos llevó a pensar si habría más estudios similares y si los centros de educación de enfermería, dispondrían de sistemas de información o de registro de los eventos de seguridad en los que se vieran inmersos los y las estudiantes. Una búsqueda con los términos “event reporting” nursing safety, en la base de datos Web of Science con la opción ALL FIELDS seleccionada, arrojó 101 resultados. En los artículos obtenidos tan solo uno (Mckay y Sanko, 2014) estaba relacionado con el rol de los estudiantes en el sistema de información, pero ninguno de ellos incluía la idea de establecer sistemas de información de Eventos de Enfermería en las propias Facultades o Escuelas.

Uno de los aspectos de diseminación de nuestro proyecto, podría incluir enviarlo a los centros de educación superior de ciencias de la salud de nuestros países para que el sistema sea utilizado por los estudiantes y profesores para informar de eventos de seguridad en enfermería.
